Saturday, April 20th more than 1,700 USC students took part in a twelve hour overnight relay event called Relay for Life, benefitting the American Cancer Society. USC students participate in the event, complete with a DJ, activity booths, and a powerful silent luminary ceremony hosted at midnight to honor loved ones battling cancer. For the first time this year, the women of Tri Delta had our very own relay team!
Our team was graciously lead by senior Mary Kate Fogarty, and we had 58 Tri Delta women come out to support the cause and walk in the relay. The final numbers have recently been tallied, with a total of $173,336.60 raised all for the American Cancer Society from USC alone! This is a huge increase of over $75,000 more than last year.
In addition to having a team, this year Tri Delta also contributed to the cause as a Gold Corporate level sponsor! Check out the photo above to see our logo on this year's Relay for Life tshirt. We all owe a huge thank you to Mary Kate for organizing the event and our team, and especially for doing such an amazing job! I know that everyone there was impacted by how truly special and meaningful Relay for Life is, and we can't wait to have another team next year.
