Rita's Percent Night -- THANK YOU!!!
Last night, we hosted a percent night for St. Jude at Rita's Italian Ice in the Vista. Their staff was so kind and offered to donate $1 to St. Jude for every treat purchased (a very high percent of their own sales!) Our members really came through with helping us promote the event and attending themselves--we had 313 treats sold in just four hours! To make the night even better, Rita's decided to increase their donation to $400!!! We are so thankful for everyone who came and helped us to support St. Jude. This is a huge contribution to our $30,000 goal for the fall semester!

Homecoming 2014
This past week was the University of South Carolina's Homecoming week, which is a huge deal for Carolina students, alumni and especially student organizations like Tri Delta! Coming off of a well-deserved win from last year, everyone worked hard to make this year a success, too. We were fortunate enough to place in the float competition at the Homecoming parade! Today's post is written by Ericka Beane and Faith Moran, the Alpha Lambda chapter's selections for Homecoming co-chairs. These two ladies worked so hard to integrate the new and existing members to participate, which was the greatest "win" of the whole week. Thank you so much for all of your time and effort, Ericka and Faith!
"For Homecoming this year Tri Delta was paired with the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Preparations began as soon as school started with applications and deadlines. There were some new additions to Homecoming week that we got to participate in such as field day and trivia night, as well as the traditional events like Spurs and Struts, Cocky’s Canned Creations, and the Float Parade.
We were even able to take home second place in float building!
Overall, we are so thankful for everyone who came to help us and for the opportunity to lead our chapter in all the events. Not to mention a huge thank you to the Pike boys! We couldn’t have done it without all of you all. We hope everyone had as much fun as we did!

Ericka Beane and Faith Moran"

Scarowinds
In the spirit of Halloween, some of our sisters recently took a road trip for a sisterhood event at Scarowinds! Today's post is written by Dana Hurtik, our member development chair, who is responsible for creating opportunities for sisterhood events.
"For our October Deltas Only event, we traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina for Carowinds' annual Halloween festivity, Scarowinds! The drive was well worth the excitement of our night at the amusement park; nothing screams bonding (literally) like being scared by the 'dead' actors and holding onto your sisters arms for dear life while running through the haunted insane asylum.
The roller coasters seemed even more intense at night and it was great to forget about school and everything else going on for the night.
While in line for a ride, a woman standing near a group of us saw that our shirts said Tri Delta at the University of South Carolina and started talking to us. Turns out she was a Tri Delta at USC back in 1984! It was awesome to meet an alumna in such an unusual place. As scared as we were, the night was a huge success and a great time for everyone."
