Semi Formal

On Saturday, Oct. 11, our sisters danced the night away at the State Museum in the Vista.  It was the last function of the semester planned by our current set of officers, and they made sure to do everything in their power to make sure we had a great time.  Huge shout out to Alex Hall, our social chair, and Addision White, our risk management chair, for all of your selfless dedication and leadership over the past year!

New Member Retreat

Last weekend was the New Member Retreat for Tri Delta's fall 2014 pledge class.  The New Member Retreat is always right before Initiation and gives the women an opportunity to get to know each other on an even deeper level.  Today's post is written by the lovely Mary Kate Korpita, the new member educator or "pledge mom" for this new class.  Thank you to all the older girls who helped make this retreat such a success and, most importantly, congratulations to all of our new initiates!

"This past weekend I had the privilege of bringing the new member pledge class on their new member retreat in Salem, South Carolina. After a long summer of planning where to go, we decided on a beautiful house on Lake Keowee. Many of the girls were anxious to go far away with such a large group of girls that they didn’t know very well. It was truly a blessing to be able to witness the growth in these women over just a couple of days. We participated in many activities from making Halloween cards for St. Jude, to creating funky t-shirts while learning the purpose of Tri Delta. It was amazing to see the friendships that began, and the walls that were broken down. Every single girl opened up and allowed for new relationships to blossom. As the New Member Educator, I felt like my job had been accomplished after seeing the amount of love that these girls had to offer to the rest of their pledge class. It is extremely bittersweet that my job as a mentor is officially over, but I returned to Columbia knowing that the next generation of Tri Delta was these women, and I couldn’t have asked for a more qualified group to carry on the true meaning of Tri Delta. They are the most beautiful people inside and out, and I can’t wait to watch them flourish these next four years.

Dunkin' Deltas -- Thank you!

Today's post is a note from our philanthropy chair, Katie Kennedy, who worked so hard to make the first Dunkin' Deltas event possible!

"I am so thankful to everyone who made Dunkin Deltas such a success; it started as a random idea that I never thought would turn into reality. It was such a basic way to raise money and we had no idea how many people wanted some hot doughnuts on a Friday morning. Thanks to everyone's support, we were able to raise $1,733 and sell 660 doughnuts!

We were also so lucky to have sweet Zoe, a local St. Jude patient, and her entire family come to the event. It was so incredible to see the direct impact our fundraising efforts have on boys and girls like Zoe. St. Jude helped give their family a chance, and we are just hoping we are able to help more families like hers. We are so incredibly thankful for everyone who supported and a special thanks to the philanthropy committee and all of the girls in my chapter!
