No matter where we go in today’s society, body shaming is everywhere.  Women are talking about how they need to lose the extra pounds, how their skin is breaking out, or how awful they feel about themselves.  When we were growing up we were told to love ourselves, yet we were and still are surrounded with such negativity.  As women, we have no problem appreciating and complimenting other women, but I have yet to hear a group of women celebrating their own bodies, personalities, or characteristics.  Instead we stand in front of the mirror analyzing every inch or sit at a desk thinking we aren’t smart or good enough. We as women need to quit comparing ourselves because we are all completely different from anyone else, and that is a good thing. You should be confident in the fact that you have something different to offer to the world that no one else can.

Healthy doesn’t come in one standard shape or size, it is different for every person.  Being beautiful is the same way, it is recognizing and appreciating the multiple dimensions of your own self-worth.

You are strong, educated, confident, healthy, funny, and that is what makes you beautiful.  It’s not “cool” to take part in the body shaming that we have grown up around.  Loving yourself and the skin that you’re in is how it is supposed to be, imperfections and all.
